Changing Existing Mulberry Accounts to Secure Connections

Note: If you use Mulberry from more than one computer, make sure to install Mulberry 2.2.1 on each computer you use. Once security is enabled on your Oak account, you will not be able to use older versions of Mulberry to access your e-mail!

    Verifying Mulberry

  1. Check to make sure you have the correct version of Mulberry installed.
    • For the PC version, click on the "Help" menu and select "About Mulberry".
    • For the Mac version, click on the "Apple Menu" and select "About Mulberry?".
    • If you do not have version 2.2.1, continue to step #3.
  2. Check to make sure you have the security plugins installed for Mulberry.
    • For the PC version, click on the "Help" menu and select "About Plugins".
    • For the Mac version, click on the "Apple Menu" and select "About Plugins?".
    • Scroll to the bottom and click on "SSL Plugin", located underneath "Secure Communications". If you have version 2.1.1 or higher, continue to step #9.
    • If you have an older version or "SSL Plugin" doesn't exist, continue to step #3.

  4. Exit Mulberry
  5. Download Mulberry v2.2.1 from the Mulberry download page.
  6. Install Mulberry v2.2.1
  7. For the Mac version, download Mulberry Plugins 2.2.1.
  8. For the Mac version, double-click the installer you downloaded in the previous step, select "Custom Install", select "Only SSL", then click on "Install".
  9. Log into Mulberry


  10. Configuring Mulberry

  11. Configure Mulberry by opening the preferences.
    • For the PC version, click on the "File" menu and select "Preferences".
    • For the Mac version, click on the "Mulberry" menu and select "Preferences".
  12. Select the "Advanced" radio button on the right-hand side of the box.
  13. Select the "Accounts" tab.
  14. The "Account" drop-down box currently has "IMAP" selected. Change the "Secure" drop-down box to "SSLv3".

  15. Replace "userid" with your personal Oak ID

  16. In the "Account" drop-down box, choose the top "IMSP" entry (IMSP Options). Change the "Secure" drop-down box to "SSLv3".
  17. Replace "userid" with your personal Oak ID

  18. In the "Account" drop-down box, choose the second "IMSP" entry (IMSP Address Books). Change the "Secure" drop-down box to "SSLv3".
  19. Replace "userid" with your personal Oak ID

  20. In the "Account" drop-down box, choose the "SMTP" entry (SMTP Send Mail). Change the "Secure" drop-down box to "SSLv3". Change the "Method" drop-down box to "Plain Text". Make sure you put your oak userid in the "User ID" field and put a check next to "Save User ID".
  21. Replace "userid" with your personal Oak ID

  22. Click on the "OK" button to save the changes you made to your preferences.
  23. Restart Mulberry in order for your new security settings to take effect.
