Instructions
for OAK ACL Manager Tasks

Log into Oak's ACL Manager.
The first time you log into ACL Manager, the system will create
a shared folder for you. On subsequent visits, ACL Manager will start
in Simple Mode, with only your shared folder and its contents visible.
Until you add items to this folder, ACL Manager will show only a
single entry that represents the shared folder itself.
To see files and folders on your Network Storage outside your shared folder, click
"Advanced" after you log into ACL Manager.

Switching Between Simple and Advanced Mode.
In Simple Mode, ACL Manager only displays your shared folder and
its contents. To grant or modify access to files stored elsewhere on
your Network Storage, click Advanced. Note that your shared folder
still appears in Advanced Mode; however, it now appears along side any
other files or folders you have on your Network Storage.

Managing Access to Items Outside your Shared Folder.
Advanced Mode in ACL Manager allows you to grant, modify and
revoke access to files and folders located anywhere on your Network
Storage, not just those in your 'shared' folder. To do so:
- Log into ACL Manager.
- Click on Advanced.
- If needed, click on the plus signs or folder names in the
left pane to navigate to the appropriate location on your Network
Storage.
- In the right hand pane, click on the folder or file's sharing
icon.
- To grant access to the item, type a valid Oak ID in the New Oak
ID box, click the appropriate rights, and click Add. Repeat this step
for any additional users.
- To revoke access for one or more Oak IDs, click Edit. Then
click the Remove box for those individuals. To modify access rights
for one or more Oak IDs, click the appropriate buttons for those
individuals. Then click Save Changes.
- When you are finished, click Browse Files to return to the main
view or close your browser to log out.

who is hosting the shared item.
- Double click on the second letter of the Oak ID of the person
who is hosting the shared item.

shared item.
- If the item is not yet visible, navigate the individual's
folder structure by double clicking the appropriate folder(s). When in

been granted write access to a folder, you also can drag and drop

Viewing Shared Items by Using a Folder URL.
Shared items can be reached with fewer clicks by typing the

https://webdav.ohio.edu/~HostingOakID/path.

the person who is hosting the shared item.
- Replace /path with the path to the shared
item within the hosting individual's Network Storage. For example:.
- https://webdav.ohio.edu/~omalley/shared/workgroup would
open a folder called 'workgroup' inside Oak user omalley's shared
folder.
- https://webdav.ohio.edu/~so530885/assignments would display
shared files and folders in Oak user so530885's 'assignments' folder.
- https://webdav.ohio.edu/~saters would display any shared
items in the root level of Oak user saters's Network Storage.

drive. If you have been granted write access to this folder, you also
