Terms and Conditions
By applying for a Bobcat Account Code, you agree to be bound by the General Terms and Conditions described below plus all applicable service-specific terms and conditions.
General Terms and Conditions
- To receive a Bobcat Account Code or any service offered by Ohio University OIT, you must be a current student, faculty or staff member at Ohio University.
- You will receive a monthly bill directly from Ohio University for your Bobcat Account Code usage. This arrangement may be altered at Ohio University's discretion.
- You are responsible for all charges to your Bobcat Account Code, including charges resulting from misuse or fraud.
- You must pay your Bobcat Account Code balance in full on or before the due date listed on your bill.
- If your account becomes delinquent by 60 days, your Bobcat Account Code will be deactivated until you pay your outstanding balance, and any services you have signed up for will be disconnected. To reactivate your account, you must pay your bill in full, plus any specific service installation or reconnection fees, as defined in the specific service sections below.
- If your account becomes delinquent by 90 days, in addition to the actions listed in point 5 above, a financial hold will be placed on your Ohio University student academic records or employee personal account. Delinquent faculty and staff accounts may result in collection actions and/or wage garnishment. To reactivate your account, you must pay your balance in full plus a $10.00 hold release fee.
- Either party may terminate this agreement at any time by written notice. You will be responsible for any outstanding balance at the time of termination.
- Ohio University OIT reserves the right to terminate or modify services at any time, with or without written notice.
- Usage of Bobcat Account Code services is subject to all applicable parts of Ohio University policy and procedure.
- Bobcat Account Code bills are sent to your local address as recorded at the Registrar's Office. You are responsible for contacting the Registrar's Office and making sure your address is current.
- Unauthorized use of a Bobcat Account Code constitutes a violation of federal law and is subject to prosecution.
- If your Bobcat Account Code is lost or stolen, you must notify either OIT or the Ohio University Police Department. You are responsible for all charges until such notification is received.
- Your Bobcat Account Code is subject to a monthly spending limit. Your account may be deactivated if you exceed this limit. To reactivate your account after exceeding your spending limit, you must pay your balance in full.
- I authorize Ohio University to release any information pertaining to my records for billing purposes.
- Terms and conditions subject to change without notice.
Long Distance
By using your Bobcat Account Code to place long distance calls, you agree to abide by the General Terms and Conditions described above, plus the following:
- On-campus long distance rates apply only to calls placed from campus extensions using the 80 + Bobcat Code + # dialing sequence or 566-OHIO from Athens local telephones. If you use 1-800-777-OHIO to place a long distance call from a campus extension or Bobcat Off Campus line, you will be charged our on-the-road rates.
- On-the-road rates apply to all long distance calls placed via 1-800-777-OHIO.
Residence Hall Phone Options
By using your Bobcat Account Code to sign up for optional Residence Hall telephone features, you agree to abide by the General Terms and Conditions described above, plus the following:
- You are responsible for the basic monthly rate(s) until you explicitly cancel your service(s). Services do not automatically cancel when you leave the Residence Halls or change rooms.
- An installation fee applies to all new telephone lines and to reconnections as a result of nonpayment.
Equipment Loans
By checking out a piece of equipment from OIT, including but not limited to an Ethernet hub, cables, or DSL equipment, you agree to abide by the General Terms and Conditions described above, plus the following:
- You are responsible for returning borrowed DSL equipment upon termination of your service. Failure to return equipment will result in your being charged the full replacement cost for that equipment.
- Residence hall borrowed equipment must be returned at the end of each Spring quarter and checked out again in the Fall. Failure to return equipment by the deadline will result in your being charged the full replacement cost for that equipment.
- You will be charged for repair or replacement of damaged equipment.
