About "Big Brother":

Always Watching!

Institution-sized computers seldom crash without warning. The trick is to spot the symptoms before the problem gets out of hand. Big Brother does this job for us by performing custom-designed tests for each service or server we monitor, as often as needed.

When a test fails, Big Brother puts up an "attention" icon next to that particular entry on our online status page and sends an e-mail and/or a pager call to the appropriate administrator(s), who then can take corrective action.

Symptom spotted, problem avoided.

How are We Doing?

You can use Big Brother to check in on us any time, day or night.

Each system or service that we monitor has its own entry on the online status page. Clicking the status icon for a specific service lets you view current test information and recent performance data for that particular service.

Outage notices, maintenance dates/times, and other useful information also can be found at https://monitor.cns.ohiou.edu/.
