SSL Certificates
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a protocol for tranmitting communications over the
Internet in an encrypted form thereby adding a layer of protection to sensitive data.
SSL Certificates are used in the encryption of communications between clients and
servers.
Ohio University has a site license contract with GeoTrust
to provide SSL Certificates.
To obtain a certificate, you must provide some basic contact information and agree to
the following rules and regulation:

I have read and agreed to Ohio University's
Computer
Network Use Policy.

I have read and agreed to GeoTrust's
True BusinessID Subscriber Agreement.
- I am an Ohio University Faculty or Staff member.
- The server will be in the ohio.edu or ohiou.edu domain.
- The server will not be in the Residence Hall (ResNet) network.
- The server will not be used for any financial transactions.

The server will be administered as an official Ohio University server,
not for private use or run from a personal or desktop computer.

The server will not replicate core IT functionalities, such as e-mail,
calendaring, etc.
