Eudora 6.1 for Mac OS X Secure
Configurations
New Accounts
If the New Account Wizard opens automatically, click the Cancel button to close it and follow these instructions.
- Go to the Special menu and select Settings.
- Click the icon on the left to select the Getting Started category.
- In the "Real Name" field, enter your name as you would have it appear on outgoing mail.
- In the "Mail Server" field, enter "oak.cats.ohiou.edu".
- In the "Userame" field, enter your Oak username. This is equal to the portion of your Oak email address before the "@" symbol.
- In the "SMTP Server" field, enter the outgoing ("SMTP") mail server provided by your internet service provider. If you are on campus or are using DialNet, you should enter "oak.cats.ohiou.edu".
- Click the icon on the left to select the Checking Mail category.
- If you are using IMAP, you may leave the "Location Prefix" blank.
- Click the icon on the left to select the Sending Mail category.
- Make sure that there is a check mark in front of Allow Authorization.
- Click the icon on the left to select the SSL category.
- Under Secure Socket Layer; SSL for Pop, SSL for SMTP and SSL for IMAP should all have selected "Required Alternate Port".
- Under Standard Port SSL Negotiation, select TLS 1.0 (Cyrus).
- Under Alternate Port SSL Negotiation, select Maximum Compatibility.
- Click the OK button to close Eudora's Settings window.
Existing Accounts
- Go to the Special menu and select Settings.
- Click the icon on the left to select the SSL category.
- Under Secure Socket Layer; SSL for Pop, SSL for SMTP and SSL for IMAP should all have selected "Required Alternate Port".
- Under Standard Port SSL Negotiation, select TLS 1.0 (Cyrus).
- Under Alternate Port SSL Negotiation, select Maximum Compatibility.
- Click the OK button to close Eudora's Settings window.
