DialNet provides Ohio students, staff and faculty with direct, low-cost access to the Internet using a computer, modem and telephone line. You can use your DialNet account to read your e-mail, browse the World Wide Web or access another account on the network.
Access to Research Databases
Many online resources at sites like OhioLINK are accessible only over a direct Ohio University network connection. A DialNet account provides such a connection at your home, allowing you to use the same research databases and online journals as are available on campus.
Getting Started
To start using DialNet, you will need the following:
You will need to configure your computer's dialup networking feature to use the appropriate DialNet phone number (see below), and you will need to enter your Oak ID as your username and your Bobcat Account Code as your password.
If you have problems setting things up, the Service Desk can assist you.

DialNet Rates:
DialNet's pay-as-you-go rates are an attractive alternative to standard monthly ISP accounts.
The average DialNet customer spends just 6 hours online each month. With a traditional, $21.95 per month ISP account, that comes out to $3.66 per hour. In contrast, DialNet rates can be as low as 25 cents per hour, depending on the time of day:
| Time |
Rate/Hour |
| 8AM - 6PM |
$0.50 |
| 6PM - 2AM |
$1.00 |
| 2AM - 8AM |
$0.25 |
DialNet accounts carry no monthly minimums or start up fees. You pay only for the time you use, with each call detailed on your monthly statement.
