Mulberry Shared Folders

Note: If you are a Mac user, you must control-click when the instructions indicate "right-click".

Creating a Shared Mailbox

  1. In the IMAP window, right-click the "Inbox" folder. Select "Create" from the menu.

  2. In the window that appears, select "Create a Mailbox". Type the name for the mailbox (this must be lowercase letters). Select "Create in Hierarchy".

  3. Click OK
  4. Your new mailbox should now be listed below "INBOX.". Right-click your new mailbox and select "Details" from the menu.

  5. In the new window, select "Access Control List". (Mac users, select "Access".)

  6. To allow mail to be delivered directly to this folder via "Plus Addressing", select "New User...". Type "anyone" in the "User IDs" box (make sure it is all lower case).
  7. Give the account Post Access

  8. Click OK

    Plus Addressing
To have mail sent directly to the new mailbox, you must use Plus-Addressing. Plus Addressing uses a special e-mail address to direct mail into a folder rather than your Inbox. This can be extremely helpful in the organization of your email messages. To use Plus Addressing you must first create a shared mailbox (see instructions above). Then have those addressing email to you use that folder's Plus Address:

    OakID+mailbox@oak.cats.ohiou.edu

For example, if your Oak ID is "lancon31", and you have a shared folder called "newmailbox", then you would use the address:

    lancon31+newmailbox@oak.cats.ohiou.edu

to deliver mail directly to that folder.

Please note: @ohiou.edu and @ohio.edu DO NOT WORK with Plus Addressing. You must use @oak.cats.ohiou.edu.

  9. (To share the folder) Select "New User". Give it the Oak ID of the person you want to share with (all lowercase letters) and give them the rights you would like them to have.

  10. Click OK
