Message Size in Mulberry

To make it easier to deal with large attachments or quota issues, you can have Mulberry display the size of each message you receive.

Showing the "Size" Column

  • Decide where in your INBOX you want the "Size" column to appear.
  • In your Mulberry INBOX window, right-click (Winows) or Apple-click (Mac) the column heading next to where you want the new "Size" column to appear.
  • Choose either "Insert Column After" or "Insert Column Before", depending on where you want the new column to appear. (Example)
  • Right-click (or Apple-click) the resulting new column and choose "Size".
  • Move your mouse over the right edge of the Size column's heading until the pointer looks like this. Then left click and drag the column edge to the right until the column is wide enough to show all of the Size numbers.
    • If you click on the middle of any column's heading, it will sort your mailbox contents based on that column. To return to the default sorting, click on the "#" column.
  • If necessary, use your mouse to enlarge your INBOX window, then go to the Windows menu and chose "Save Default Window".
How to Read the Size Column

For small messages, Mulberry displays the size in bytes. For larger messages, Mulberry abbreviates using either "K" for kilobytes or "M" for megabytes. For example:

  • 2714 - 2714 bytes. Typical for a short text message.
  • 68K - 68 kilobytes. Typical for a normal message with attachments.
  • 2M - 2 megabytes. A large message. Even a few such messages would exceed a typical mailbox quota.
Dealing with Large Messages

If you regularly receive large attachments, you may want to create a local folder and store such messages there.
