Accessing Your Oak
Account
E-Mail from Campus
Computers
- Mulberry: The preferred
way to access Oak e-mail. Because Mulberry stores all messages,
preferences, and address books remotely, you can get full, secure
access to your Oak e-mail from any Mulberry-equipped computer. All
university-provided student and lab computers come with Mulberry, as
do many departmental office computers. You can download your own copy
of Mulberry here.
- Webmail: If none of the above
programs is available, you can point your web browser to https://webmail.ohio.edu. Webmail
is similar to Mulberry, but with fewer features. Before trying
Webmail, make sure to read our Webmail pages.
Rapid-Check E-Mail
Stations
Rapid-check e-mail stations can be found in a
number of public places across the Athens campus, including Alden
Library and Baker Center.
E-Mail Through Other ISPs
The
simplest way to check your Oak e-mail from a non-University Internet
Service Provider (ISP) is by using Webmail. Make sure to check the
Webmail help
file for browser and configuration requirements before using
Webmail for the first time. Most common errors with Webmail can be
avoided by following the tips in the help file.
If you regularly
use a non-University local ISP like FrogNet to check your mail, you
can install a copy of Mulberry
on your home machine and configure it to use SMTP authentication.
Please view the instruction #15 at Changing
Existing Mulberry Accounts to Secure Connections for an
example.
For older machines that support neither Webmail nor
Mulberry, you can use SSH to check your mail. The instructions for
using SSH from a non-University ISP are the same as those listed above
under "E-Mail from Campus Computers".
Network Storage - All Locations
To manage files on your
Network storage space, including personal web page files, you can use
drag-and-drop access via Internet Explorer (Windows) or Goliath (Mac),
or you can use a secure FTP client like SFTP.
